This is a unique opportunity to practise in a dynamic, patient-centred environment within Australia's first and only fully integrated academic health sciences centre. About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in Pre-Op, Anaesthetics and Recovery, you will deliver safe, high-quality nursing care across the perioperative continuum. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive pre-operative assessments, patient education and admission documentation to ensure surgical readiness.
  • Providing skilled clinical support within the Anaesthetics environment, including airway management assistance, intravenous access, medication administration and patient monitoring during induction, maintenance and emergence.
  • Delivering expert post-anaesthetic care in PACU, encompassing continuous monitoring, airway management, pain and post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) management, and assessment of discharge readiness against established criteria.
  • Recognising and responding promptly to clinical deterioration and emergencies in accordance with hospital policy and evidence-based practice.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation across all phases of perioperative care.
  • Collaborating closely with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Nurse Unit Managers and the broader multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
  • Participating actively in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and the promotion of a strong safety culture within Perioperative Services.
  • Supporting the orientation, mentoring and education of new team members and nursing students within the perioperative setting.
